In Bhangra We Trust (IBWT), is a retro urban story set in the 1980s, a full length musical dance-theatre featuring the brand of British bhangra highlighting its historic and political development - namely the social and anti-racist factors around the murder of Gurdip Singh Chaggar by National Front, and subsequent ant-fascist riots of 1979, & 1981 - that fuelled the determination of south Asian youth to develop their own cultural identity, resulting in a new sub-culture bhangra industry with its ’daytime’ clubs and concerts.

Featuring live music and vocals IBWT follows Amar – a fictitious character synonymous of south Asian youth in the late 70’s/early 80’s striving to find safe environments from the  hostile racist clubbing night life in particular the style of dance that he has carved from traditional bhangra vocabulary and contemporary hip hop break-dancing.
